Noice: Tokenising Attention

Noice

What if every time you liked a video or reshared a post you could automatically pay its creator? Noice recently launched on Farcaster to make this possible and has already processed over 2 million tips since then.

You can now claim your share of Noice on Fluidkey based on your score.

On traditional social media platforms, the flow of value is fully controlled by the platform. It typically generates revenues with ads and then decides which share of these revenues to pass down to creators, if any.

By being built onchain and giving every user a wallet, Farcaster enables new flows of value that don’t need to be coordinated by a central entity.

With Noice, you decide how much your likes, comments, shares, quotes, or follows are worth. You can also decide which ERC-20 token to tip with. This introduces interesting new mechanics such as the ability to reward users who follow a project’s account with the project’s native token.

All you have to do is set your tipping parameters and give Noice an allowance, it then automatically processes tips based on activity.

Noice Config

Noice isn’t the first product focused on tipping within the Farcaster ecosystem. Degen made waves when it launched at the beginning of 2024 with mechanics focused on its token: all tips were made in the native Degen token and each community member was able to allocate tips based on a personal Degen budget.

Noice is focused on building a more generalised protocol enabling its users to reward any online action with the token of their choice. Its roadmap is focused on enabling creator tokens with tipping mechanics and expanding the protocol beyond Farcaster to Twitter.

Noice Roadmap

If and how the Noice token will play a role within the product is unclear for now. Its token has however enabled the team to build an aligned and engaged community around the product. One could imagine the token playing a role in the tipping protocol in the future.

With its launch, the Noice team has shown that it is able to capture attention. We’re excited to follow along as it unleashes the flow of value for online content and engagement.

With our weekly token highlights, we aim to put a focus on projects we find exciting, whether they are nascent like Noice or an established asset like ETH.

Note that none of our highlights are financial advice. The value of any of the tokens highlighted may go to zero.

See you next week!
